SPS Organization

SPS organization is formed by specialized professionals who work at departments with clear responsibilities and accountabilities.

Procurement Function

Responsible for the procurement of all items/areas that generate operating costs to the vessels.

The procurement function consists of:

  •   Lubricants / Safety Equipment
  •   Spares
  •   Supplies
  •   Forwarding
  •   Bunkers
    •       SPS has developed a direct Bunker purchasing role in order to remove the role of intermediaries and the inherent credit risk
  •   Crew
  •   MGA
  •   Dry-docking optimization
    •       SPS negotiates on behalf of its clients with multiple dry-docking facilities to improve leverage and dry-docking works unit prices.
  •   Invoice checking
  •   Insurances
  •   IT / Communications

Finance Function

Covers the financial management requirements of SPS by keeping accounting books and organizing reporting procedures in compliance with SOX requirements. It is responsible to maintain dynamic chart of accounts and to support running cost reporting and cash flow analysis, including accruals.

Vessels Performance Monitoring Function (VPM)

Monitors and controls fuel efficiency based on the ships daily reporting of operational data and performs detailed analysis to compare the performance of individual vessels.

VPM function is a major differentiating factor, versus other third party management companies, with the added benefit offered to the client at no extra charge.

Control Function

Assures effectiveness and efficiency of costs, operations, reliability of management reporting, compliance with laws and regulations and assets safeguarding.

Human Resources Function

Offers maritime staffing and consulting services in all areas of human resources management.

Theodoros Karadimos

EVP & Procurement Director

Theodoros has a B.Sc in Naval Architecture & Shipbuilding and an MSc in Marine Technology from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne (UK). In 1995, he joined Oceanbulk Maritime as Controller and from 2000 he assumed the position of Purchasing Manager. From 2006 until 2011, he assumed various financial tasks and positions primarily as Investment Officer together with the Owner. Then from November 2011 until late 2014 he moved to Starbulk S.A. as Cost Controller and Purchasing Manager, and in 2015 he joined Ship Procurement Services SA as Executive Vice President & Procurement Director.
